Living together (in everyday life).

"Dementia" is a derivative of the Latin "de mente" and means "without mind".

Dementia is noticeable by the disease-related disorder of mental capability,

where the memory and the ability to think decrease,

which - depending on the stage of the disease – affects the life of every day

and ultimately leads to the need for care.

Cognitive, emotional and social skills suffer severe deficits,

so that there are limitations in short-term memory, comprehension, language skills and motor functions.

Also, possible changes in characteristics may be undergone.

Being demented means that several mental and intellectual areas are impaired

such as the orientation, the ability to learn and to judge.

A distinction is made between generally mild,

moderately severe and severe disorders.
